Kosagumuda, Sept 23 [UDN}:: The birth anniversary of Saint Poet Ravidas was observed in Kosagumuda and Katagaon on Sunday with a series of programmes, including tree plantation drives.
BJP mandal-level office-bearers and workers gathered at the Veer Chaunriya Temple, the presiding deity of the Sadar village, and the Mata Hingulajin Temple to commemorate the occasion. The programme began with floral tributes being offered to a portrait of Saint Poet Ravidas, followed by the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and a remembrance of his life and teachings.
Among those present were selected SC district in-charge Muralidhar Suna, district general secretary Jitendra Harijan, SC Mandal in-charge Padmini Majhi, Alekh Dharma guru Saubhagya Baba, MP representative Suresh Patra, MLA representative Birendra Pujari, Yuva Morcha Mandal president Sudhanshu Pradhan, Bhubaneswar Nayak and Pindu Patnaik.
As part of the observance, saplings were planted on the premises of both temples. Tree plantation programmes were also organised at TOME School and the Shaheed Laxman Nayak Stadium, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation alongside the birth anniversary celebrations.
BJP mandal leaders, party workers, the programme’s office-bearers and devotees of the Alekh Mahima Dharma participated in the event.
