Malkangiri,Oct 9 [UDN}: On the occasion of Wildlife Week, a birdwatching programme was organised at Satiguda Eco Park in Malkangiri through a joint initiative of Eco Yuva Tribe and the Malkangiri Forest Division. Students of Satiguda Kanyashram School actively participated in the programme.
At the beginning of the event, the students were sensitised about the objectives and importance of Wildlife Week and the need to protect wildlife and natural habitats. They were also introduced to the basics of birdwatching, including the use of binoculars and cameras to observe birds closely, identify different species and capture photographs.
The participants were briefed about various bird species, their habitats and behavioural patterns. The students then took part in a birdwalk through the Eco Park and its surrounding areas, where they observed a variety of birds in their natural surroundings.
At the conclusion of the birdwalk, an interactive discussion was held on the identification of the birds observed, their behaviour and habitats. The importance of protecting birds, wildlife and the environment was also highlighted, with emphasis on the role students can play in conservation and environmental awareness.
Eco Yuva Tribe members Deeparani Nayak and Sangeeta Nayak, Forest Department Forester Swayamprabha Pradhan, Control Room staff and photographer Rajib Adhikari, along with students and teachers of Satiguda Kanyashram School, were present during the programme.
