Nabarangpur:,Oct 19 [UDN}: The Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) is organising street plays across southern Odisha to raise public awareness about the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a Government of India initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar power and encouraging households to adopt clean and renewable energy.
As part of this awareness campaign, a street play was organised at Jharabandhaguda village in Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district. The programme aimed to educate local residents about the benefits of solar energy and the opportunities available to households under the government-sponsored scheme.
Through the street play, members of the public were informed about the importance of adopting solar energy, the process of installing rooftop solar panels at residential properties, and the financial assistance available through government subsidies. The performance presented information in an engaging and accessible manner to help people better understand the scheme and its benefits.
The awareness initiative seeks to encourage more households to explore rooftop solar installations, reduce their dependence on conventional electricity sources, and benefit from potential savings on electricity bills. By using street plays as a medium of communication, TPSODL is working to take information about the scheme directly to communities, particularly in rural areas where people may need additional guidance on the application and installation process.
The campaign across southern Odisha reflects TPSODL’s efforts to promote renewable energy adoption, improve public awareness of government initiatives, and support the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, eligible residential households can receive government subsidies for installing rooftop solar systems, subject to the scheme’s applicable guidelines and conditions. The initiative is designed to expand household access to solar power while helping consumers reduce their electricity expenses.
