Bhubaneswar, Jan 3: The ST&SC Development, Minorities, and Backward Classes Welfare Department is gearing up for the much-awaited Adivasi Mela, set to take place from January 5 to 16 at the Unit-III IDCO Exhibition Ground. This year, the event coincides with the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, being hosted in Odisha for the first time.
The fair will transport visitors into the heart of tribal culture, featuring a tribal village, a traditional haat (market), stalls showcasing tribal arts and crafts, food courts with tribal delicacies, and live demonstrations of tribal skills. One of the main attractions is the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Pavilion, which will host five galleries focused on the life of Birsa Munda, various freedom fighters, and exhibitions of tribal art and photos.
In the evenings, attendees will be treated to vibrant performances of tribal music and dance, as well as a captivating laser show highlighting Birsa Munda’s journey. Other exciting features include a drone show depicting Odisha’s diverse tribes, a light and sound show dedicated to lesser-known tribal freedom fighters, a fashion show, and a spectacular fireworks display.
The Adivasi Mela aims to showcase Odisha’s rich tribal heritage and offer visitors a unique cultural experience that honors both the traditional and modern aspects of tribal life.
