10th January 2025: India’s aspirations to host the 2036 Olympic Games are becoming more promising, with increasing discussions around potential host cities. Ahmedabad is among the frontrunners, with plans to invest ₹6,000 crore in developing world-class sports infrastructure. This makes the city a strong candidate to host the Games.
While Ahmedabad is in the spotlight, Bhubaneswar is expected to play a key role, potentially hosting the hockey events, a sport where India has a proud history. Mumbai and Pune are also likely to host cricket and kayaking events, respectively, adding to India’s diverse sporting strengths.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed confidence in India’s ability to host the Olympics, highlighting the country’s progress in sports infrastructure. India’s official bid was presented during the IOC meeting in Mumbai last year, and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has already submitted a letter of intent to the IOC, reaffirming India’s commitment.
With strong government backing and growing enthusiasm within the sports community, India’s bid for the 2036 Olympics is steadily gaining traction, offering hope for a historic moment in the nation’s sporting future.
