Odisha to Launch Semiconductor Park on Singapore Model, Expand World Skill Center
22nd November 2024: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his team have recently concluded a successful visit to Singapore, where they engaged in discussions with over 400 investors from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan. These conversations centered around potential development projects aimed at boosting Odisha’s economy and infrastructure.

One of the key highlights of the trip was the proposal for a semiconductor park in Odisha, spanning 200 acres. This initiative, inspired by models from Singapore and Malaysia, was discussed in collaboration with PIP Innovation Pvt. Ltd. The park aims to attract high-tech industries and foster innovation in the region.
The delegation also explored advancements in skill development with the second phase of the World Skill Center in Bhubaneswar. This phase will offer specialized training in fields like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR), preparing the state’s workforce for the future.
In addition to these developments, discussions took place regarding the expansion of Paradip Port, with potential collaborations from companies like Sembcorp and Linde. Plans for developing container terminals and improving logistics infrastructure were also explored, with key partnerships being considered with global port authorities, including Singapore’s.
Furthermore, the Odisha government plans to establish a world-class exhibition center in Bhubaneswar, modeled after Singapore’s Suntec Convention Centre. This center will host international conferences, trade exhibitions, and cultural events, positioning Odisha as a hub for global business and tourism.
Through these strategic discussions and partnerships, the Odisha government is taking important steps towards enhancing the state’s infrastructure, promoting skill development, and attracting global investments. The government is also exploring ways to strengthen air connectivity with ASEAN countries to further boost trade and tourism.
