Bhubaneswar, January 28, 2025: The much-anticipated ‘Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’ began at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of the state’s industrial landscape. A standout moment came when Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), revealed plans to establish a new steel plant in Keonjhar, Odisha. This significant project is expected to bring an investment of ₹70,000 crore over the next six years, enhancing production capacity and driving job creation in the region.
The two-day event, officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw participation from key business representatives, both from India and abroad, including delegates from countries like the United States, Germany, Singapore, and the UK. Focused discussions covered critical sectors such as chemicals, renewable energy, mining, and start-ups, with 15 independent sessions designed to foster collaboration and innovation.
The conclave’s primary goal is to position Odisha as a leading destination for industrial investment and growth, encouraging both domestic and international companies to explore opportunities in the state. More than 100 industry leaders are expected to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the state government across various sectors, including IT, food processing, and petrochemicals. The state government is also looking to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem that offers long-term growth prospects and job opportunities.
Through this conclave, Odisha aims to become a hub for industrial innovation, contributing significantly to both the state’s economy and the broader vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). The state government is committed to ensuring that every district in Odisha becomes a part of this industrial transformation.
