Mumbai, June 13: To celebrate the vibrant Odia festival of Rajo, Mumbai’s renowned hotel The Orchid in Vile Parle has launched a special food festival showcasing authentic Odia cuisine at its restaurant South of Vindhyas.

The culinary spread includes traditional delicacies such as Poda Pitha, Rasabali, Dalma, Tanka Torani, Kanji Torani, Malpua, and more—offering Mumbaikars a rich taste of Odisha’s culinary heritage. The festival runs until June 16.

To recreate the festive ambiance of Rajo, the restaurant has also arranged swings (doli), a selfie zone, and folk music and dance performances, bringing the complete cultural experience to life.

The event has been conceptualized by Vishal Kamat, Director of Kamat Hotels India Ltd., and led by Corporate Chef Ranjan Panda, with support from five chefs from The Orchid Bhubaneswar and eight regional Odia chefs.

Speaking about the initiative, Chef Panda said, “This festival is a celebration of Odisha’s food traditions, allowing the people of Mumbai to savor the flavors usually found in Puri’s Jagannath Temple and Odia homes during Rajo.”
