Jagatsinghpur, July 22: The Jagatsinghpur district administration has directed all Block Education Officers (BEOs) to expedite Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) camps to ensure that every eligible school-going child has an updated Aadhaar record.
The move comes amid concerns over the slow pace of biometric updates and delays in the submission of camp schedules by several blocks. The district administration has asked officials to organise camps on priority and clear the pending backlog at the earliest.
Under UIDAI guidelines, Aadhaar biometric updates are mandatory for children at the ages of five and fifteen years to maintain the validity of their Aadhaar records. Updated Aadhaar details are essential for availing scholarships, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) benefits, school examinations, and other government welfare schemes.
Officials have been instructed to prepare block-wise and cluster-wise camp schedules based on pending data and submit them in advance to facilitate the timely deployment of Aadhaar operators and obtain necessary approvals.
The administration has also directed BEOs to create awareness among headmasters, teachers, parents, and students about the importance of timely biometric updates and the availability of free Aadhaar update services for eligible children up to September 30, 2026.
District authorities have emphasised close coordination with Aadhaar operators and school officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the camps. Officials will also be required to monitor progress regularly and submit periodic reports.
