The change applies to the regional offices located in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, and Brahmapur, which will now operate under the new designation. The post of Regional Director of Education has also been renamed as Regional Director of School Education.
The department stated that the revised nomenclature will be used across all official records, government notifications, orders, manuals, service documents, and other official communications.
Officials clarified that the renaming is only an administrative update and will not impact the existing duties, powers, responsibilities, jurisdiction, salary structure, allowances, seniority, or service conditions attached to the posts.
All references to the earlier designation in existing rules, regulations, circulars, and guidelines will now be treated as references to the newly named Regional Directorate of School Education, wherever applicable.
The notification issued by the School & Mass Education Department has come into force with immediate effect and will be published in the Odisha Gazette.
