22nd January 2025: Odisha is set to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) in April 2025. The state government has also announced the launch of a unique initiative called “Children’s Baatika” as part of this educational reform. The Baatika will aim to create a more inclusive, creative, and engaging learning environment for students, with a focus on integrating the principles of NEP.

NEP’s implementation in Odisha will focus on making significant changes in various aspects of education, including curriculum restructuring, teacher training, and improving the overall quality of education. The introduction of Children’s Baatika could be one such step to enhance early childhood education, providing a space for interactive and creative learning, and ensuring better educational outcomes for young learners.

This move is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to bring education reforms in line with national goals, ensuring holistic development for children and fostering a more adaptable, skill-oriented education system.

The new education policy will focus on creating a strong foundation in primary education and emphasizing quality education. This policy will be implemented from the upcoming academic year.

The Chief Minister stated that the 10+2 system will be replaced with a 5+3+3+4 structure in the state. This step aims to reorganize the entire education framework to ensure better integration and accessibility for students, making it easier for them to adapt to the new system and educational approach.
