Bhadrak:Sept 29 [UDN}: A high-level review meeting was held at the District Office conference hall to assess and coordinate measures to deal with the flood situation that has developed in Bhadrak district due to rainfall triggered by a low-pressure system.
The meeting was chaired by Odisha Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, who holds the portfolios of Higher Education; Sports and Youth Services; and Odia Language, Literature and Culture. The meeting focused on assessing the prevailing flood situation and ensuring a coordinated and timely response by the district administration and various government departments.
The Bhadrak MLA and Chairman of the District Planning Board, the Bhadrak Lok Sabha MP, and the Bhadrak District Collector, among other senior officials, were present at the review meeting.
During the meeting, a detailed assessment was carried out regarding the damage caused by the flood, relief distribution, assistance being provided to affected people, and rehabilitation measures to be undertaken in the affected areas. Officials were directed to closely monitor the situation and ensure that relief and essential assistance reach people affected by waterlogging and flooding without delay.
The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate (Revenue), Additional District Magistrate (General), Chief Development Officer, Sub-Collector, heads of various engineering and technical departments, all Tahasildars and Block Development Officers (BDOs), as well as other district-level officials.
The administration placed the highest priority on ensuring zero casualties during the flood situation. Particular emphasis was laid on providing immediate assistance to people stranded or surrounded by floodwater, strengthening field-level response mechanisms and ensuring that officials of all concerned departments take appropriate and timely action.
The participating officials were instructed to remain vigilant and maintain close coordination so that emergency assistance, relief materials and other necessary support could reach affected residents promptly.
