31st March 2025: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) Vice Chairman N. Thirumala Naik recently reviewed the progress of the ongoing Town Planning (TP) schemes in the city, focusing on TP-I, II, III, and IV. These schemes cover eight villages: Paikarapur, Sijiput, Naragoda, Sahajpur, Tamando, Bijipur, Nuagaon, and Shyamsundarpur.
BDA officials reported significant progress, including 60 km of embankment roads, 64.9 km of drainage systems, and 29 culverts completed. Additionally, a 4 km stretch of bitumen road is now finished. The hearing process for objections from landowners under the TP-VIII scheme for Andharua and Daspur is still underway.
Naik urged officials to speed up the work and ensure regular monitoring to meet deadlines. The project is part of a larger effort to improve urban infrastructure, with plans for 14 new TP schemes in Zone-4.
The initiative is designed to transform these areas with essential infrastructure like roads, drainage, and utilities. The project is in line with the city’s Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) 2010, which includes building a 64.9 km ring road.
