21st February 2025: Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar is set for a major upgrade with the construction of a third terminal, aimed at enhancing the airport’s capacity and efficiency. The terminal, spanning over 30,000 square meters, is expected to be completed within the next two to three months, with work slated to begin by April 2025.
This expansion is a significant step in transforming Odisha’s aviation infrastructure, offering state-of-the-art facilities for both domestic and international travelers. The new terminal will play a key role in improving air connectivity and promoting regional development. The project is estimated to cost over ₹1,000 crore.
With increasing air traffic, the capacity of the airport, which currently handles around 40 lakh passengers annually, will expand to accommodate 80 lakh passengers. This development aligns with Odisha’s aspirations to become a major hub for travel and business in India.
