Chief Minister Launches PRM Medical College and Hospital, Describing It as a Transformative Step Toward Strengthening Healthcare Services and Medical Education

Baripada, June 11:  Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday inaugurated the Pandit Raghunath Murmu (PRM) Medical College and Hospital at Rangamatia in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district. He said that this state-of-the-art multi-specialty hospital would bring a new revolution in healthcare services not only for Baripada or Mayurbhanj district, but for the entire northern Odisha region as well as neighboring areas of Jharkhand and West Bengal.

The Chief Minister announced that while the foundation has already been laid for a medical college in Nabarangpur district, new medical colleges will soon be opened in Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak.

Inaugurating the ultra-modern 650-bed PRM Hospital, built at an estimated cost of ₹258 crore, the Chief Minister said that providing quality healthcare services to people is one of the primary goals of the state government. He stated that the people of Mayurbhanj district would now be able to access advanced medical treatment under one roof. The hospital will function as a referral center for northern Odisha, enabling people to receive better healthcare services closer to their homes without having to travel far.

He further said that within two years of the BJP government coming to power in Odisha, new medical colleges have become operational in three districts — Jajpur, Kandhamal, and Talcher.
To strengthen the AYUSH healthcare system, the state government has also approved funds for establishing three new Ayurvedic Medical Colleges in Gajapati, Malkangiri, and Rayagada, along with two new Homeopathic Medical Colleges in Nayagarh and Nuapada.

The government also plans to open seven nursing colleges in locations where medical colleges have already been established. In addition, plans are underway to establish dental hospitals in Burla, Berhampur, Keonjhar, and Balangir.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling emphasized the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure and said that the government is committed to providing the best healthcare services to the people of the district.

Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, Mayurbhanj MP Naba Charan Majhi, and all local MLAs were present on the occasion.
The inauguration ceremony of PRM Medical College was attended by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi along with several distinguished guests.
