Bhubaneswar, Sept. 7 (UDN): Odisha is likely to witness a fresh spell of enhanced rainfall from September 9 as a cyclonic circulation is expected to develop over north Odisha on September 8, according to meteorological scientist Dr Sarat Sahu.

The system is currently unlikely to intensify into a low-pressure area. However, its influence could bring widespread rainfall to several parts of the state, particularly across north Odisha, until September 11.
Districts along the Odisha-Jharkhand and Odisha-West Bengal borders are likely to experience increased rainfall activity. Jajpur, Baleswar, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Sundargarh may receive significant showers, with isolated areas likely to record heavy rainfall.
According to the weather assessment, rainfall is expected to become more active over north Odisha from September 9. On September 10, heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts.
The weather system is likely to influence southern parts of the state as well, with widespread rainfall expected across several districts of both north and south Odisha on September 11.
Meanwhile, several parts of the state have already received light to moderate rainfall. Baripada recorded 17.8 mm of rain, while scattered showers were reported from parts of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Kendrapara.
The developing weather system is likely to keep rainfall activity elevated across Odisha over the coming days, particularly in the northern districts.
