Demand Raised for Launch of B.Ed and M.Ed Programs Across Odisha Universities as Berhampur MP Submits Proposal to Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar, June 11:   Due to the acute shortage of B.Ed and M.Ed seats in Odisha, thousands of Odia students are forced every year to study outside the state, where they often face financial and mental exploitation. To address this issue, Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy has demanded that all universities in the state immediately introduce these courses through both regular and distance education modes.

In this regard, he has written a letter to Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi seeking urgent intervention.

The MP has proposed that the number of seats in government colleges be increased two to three times through a multi-shift system. He also suggested opening B.Ed wings in leading government and autonomous degree colleges across all districts under a self-financing model.

According to the letter, a transparent and strict policy should be introduced in line with NCTE guidelines so that quality private institutions can be permitted to offer B.Ed courses under the affiliation of government universities.

Dr. Panigrahy further stated that a separate monitoring cell should be formed under the Higher Education Department to keep watch on fraudulent consultancy agents operating in the state.
