Dense Fog Engulfs Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, Disrupts Traffic; Yellow Warning Issued

Bhubaneswar, January 28, 2025: Early morning fog in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack caused major disruptions to traffic, with visibility dropping to just a few feet. The dense fog made it difficult for drivers to navigate, and road conditions became hazardous, especially for those traveling on major routes. In many areas, vehicles were forced to slow down considerably, with some reports indicating that headlights were barely visible.

The situation prompted the Regional Meteorological Centre to issue a yellow warning for 10 districts, including coastal regions, due to the persistent fog and its potential impact on daily activities. The fog is expected to last for the next two days, with further weather disturbances possible.

Alongside the fog, the temperature has also dipped, particularly in the northern and northwestern parts of Odisha. Udaygiri recorded the lowest temperature of 6.4°C, while other areas such as Similiguda (9.1°C), Fublani (9.5°C), and Sundargarh (9.8°C) experienced a noticeable drop in temperatures overnight.

Residents and commuters have been urged to exercise extra caution while traveling, as visibility remains poor during the foggy conditions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising people to take necessary precautions to avoid accidents.
