District-Level Monitoring Committee Reviews Implementation of Key Development Programmes in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, July 25 UDN}:   District-Level Monitoring Committee meeting was held at the Ashok Mehta Conference Hall at the Nabarangpur District Collectorate, under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain.

The meeting was attended by CDO-cum-EO Biranchi Narayan Darwan, District Handicrafts Development Officer Jayashi Dung Dung, LED Bank Manager Gopal Krishna Panda, DIC AIO Nirmal Kumar Rayaguru, DPMU Assistant Director Brajabandhu Nayak, DDM NABARD Bauribandhu Gochhayat, State Handicrafts Award-winning lac artisan Kumari Prabhati Patra, Handicrafts Development Officer Gaurav Soren, Debashish Joshi, and lac artisan Kali Charan Patra.

The meeting focused on ways to improve the quality of various handicraft products made in the district. Special discussions were held on measures to promote Nabarangpur’s traditional and oldest lac handicraft industry and to ensure that artisans can easily obtain lac, clay materials for making various shapes and products, bamboo, and different types of colours and other raw materials at affordable prices.

The committee also discussed steps to make these resources more easily accessible to local artisans and to further develop and strengthen the handicraft sector in Nabarangpur district.
