Kotpad, Sept 16 [UDN}:The traditional Dussehra celebrations in Kotpad received a religious and ceremonial beginning with the arrival of the Agyamala (sacred garland/blessing) from the presiding deity, Maa Mauli.
The Agyamala was received at the Maa Mauli temple in Kotpad in connection with this year’s Sharadiya Dussehra Puja. The sacred ritual marks an important step toward the preparations for the annual festival, which is expected to be organised with grandeur, devotion, discipline and public participation.
During the occasion, prayers were offered for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the Dussehra festivities and for the well-being of the people of the Kotpad region. Members of the Dussehra Puja committee, local officials, devotees and residents were present at the temple and sought the blessings of Maa Mauli.
The organisers appealed to the people of Kotpad and surrounding areas to extend their cooperation for the smooth conduct of the festival. Special emphasis was placed on maintaining peace, discipline and proper arrangements throughout the celebrations.
The committee has already discussed various aspects of the Dussehra preparations at an earlier preparatory meeting. Arrangements for decorative lighting, beautification and festive illumination of Kotpad are also expected to be undertaken, as has been the tradition in previous years.
The presence of the sacred Agyamala from Maa Mauli has generated enthusiasm among devotees and members of the local community. After receiving the divine permission, devotees offered prayers and had darshan of the presiding deity, creating a joyful and devotional atmosphere at the temple.
The organisers expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of residents, devotees and the administration, this year’s Dussehra celebrations will be conducted in a peaceful, disciplined and grand manner, preserving the religious traditions and cultural heritage of Kotpad.
