Educators, Students, and Social Thinkers Participate in ‘Save Education, Save the Future’ Discussion in Jharsuguda to Address Key Challenges in the Education Sector

Jharsuguda:June 30 {UDN}:   The Jharsuguda District Congress Committee organized a press conference under the theme “Students’ Voice – Save Education, Save the Future” to protest the alleged NEET examination paper leak and the numerous printing errors found in school textbooks published by the Odisha Government.

The programme highlighted concerns over the integrity of the education system and the impact of these incidents on students’ futures. Speakers referred to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Kota on June 17, where he met students, expressed solidarity with them, encouraged them to stay motivated, and stressed that the future of students should never be compromised due to examination irregularities. They stated that, following his appeal, similar “Save Education, Save the Future” programmes are being organized across states and districts.

On the occasion, Pradesh Congress Committee observers Ananta Shayan Padhi and Gyanendra Das said that the alleged NEET paper leak had jeopardized the future of millions of students across the country and raised serious questions about the transparency and credibility of the examination system. They also alleged that the large number of errors in Odisha government school textbooks reflected negligence and inefficiency within the education department.

Congress leaders claimed that administrative failures by both the Central and State Governments had created uncertainty among students. They urged the government to keep education free from politics and corruption and to prioritize the interests and welfare of students.

The District Congress Committee demanded:
A comprehensive investigation into the alleged NEET examination irregularities.
Strict action against those found responsible.
Immediate correction and replacement of error-filled school textbooks with accurate study materials.

The speakers concluded that the future of the nation and the state depends on its students, and therefore no compromise should be made with their education, rights, or future. They also asserted that the Jharsuguda District Congress Committee would continue its struggle to safeguard students’ interests in the coming days.

The press conference was attended by district observers along with District Congress President Jeevan Sarthak, former District President Bharat Abasti, Youth Congress President Shah Rukh Khan, and several other Congress office-bearers and party workers.
