Bhubaneswar, July 25 UDN}: Farmer registration for the 2026–27 Kharif season will be conducted from July 25 to August 30. Unlike previous years, society secretaries will not renew the registrations of old farmers. Instead, the names of all new and existing farmers who wish to sell paddy this year will have to be registered afresh.
The number of registered farmers in the district is expected to touch one lakh this year. Farmers have been advised to register at the societies, LAMPS, PACS and Pani Panchayats through which they intend to sell their paddy.
After registration, the submitted forms will undergo digitisation, validation and verification, and the final list is expected to be published by September 30. The Supply Department has stated that no applications will be accepted after the stipulated deadline.
This year, the paddy procurement price has been increased to ₹3,100 per quintal, which is expected to encourage a record number of farmer registrations in the district. The Central Government has increased the MSP by ₹100 to ₹2,300 per quintal, while the State Government will provide an additional ₹800 bonus, taking the total price to ₹3,100 per quintal.
The government has also announced that there will be no deductions for cutting and cleaning of paddy this year. However, farmers will have to bring paddy conforming to FAQ (Fair Average Quality) standards. Otherwise, despite the government restrictions, millers may carry out deductions for cutting and cleaning with the consent of the farmers.
In 2025–26, around one lakh farmers registered in the district, of whom 96,000 were found eligible to sell paddy.
