Five Jawans Injured, One Critical in Anti-Maoist Operation Along Odisha–Jharkhand Border; High Alert Sounded

Bhubaneswar/Jharkhand, April 16(BNP): At least five security personnel were injured, one of them critically, during an anti-Maoist operation in the Saranda–Baliba forest area along the Odisha–Jharkhand border on Thursday.

According to reports, the incident occurred during an exchange of fire between security forces and Maoist cadres in the dense forest region, where a major operation is currently underway.

The injured jawans were immediately evacuated and shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment, with one reported to be in critical condition.

Following the incident, security forces have intensified combing and search operations in the area. Authorities have also sounded a high alert across the border region, given the continued presence of Maoist elements.

Officials said additional forces have been deployed to ensure the safety of personnel and to maintain strict vigil in the affected zones.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities in the region, which has long been considered a sensitive security corridor.
