Jeypore, Sept 15 [UDN}:: The 14th National Forest Martyrs’ Day was observed in Koraput by the Odisha Non-Gazetted Forest Service Association. The programme was organised by the Koraput Circle Zone at the premises of the Central Nursery Production Centre, bringing together forest officials and employees from several divisions.
Koraput DFO Siddhartha Jain attended the programme as the chief guest. DFO of Jeypore KL Division A. Uma Mahesh and Koraput ACF Jagannath Prasad Bishoyi were present as guests of honour. Range Officers from Lamtaput, Laxmipur and Balda ranges also participated in the event.
Vice-president of the Odisha Non-Gazetted Forest Service Association Malay Ranjan attended the programme along with office-bearers of the Koraput Circle Zone, including president Rabindra Pradhan, secretary Santosh Kumar Sahu, vice-president Gobinda Nayak and joint secretary Gautam Swain.
Executive members and forest personnel from the Koraput, Jeypore, Jeypore KL, Nabarangpur, Nabarangpur KL, Rayagada, Rayagada Silviculture and Malkangiri division zones also took part in the observance.
The programme paid tribute to forest martyrs who sacrificed their lives while protecting forests and wildlife. The participants remembered their courage, dedication and contribution to forest conservation and honoured the sacrifices made by them in the line of duty.
Speakers emphasised that the protection of forests and wildlife is not merely an official responsibility but a collective duty requiring sustained cooperation among forest personnel, local communities and other stakeholders. They called for renewed efforts to safeguard forests, biodiversity, the environment and wildlife.
The event also highlighted the importance of preserving the legacy of forest personnel who lost their lives while performing their duties. Participants resolved to continue working with commitment towards forest protection and environmental conservation.
Manoj Kumar Maharana, Niranjan Pradhan and other Koraput forest-range employees extended their cooperation in conducting the programme successfully.
