Khallikote, Sept. 26 (UDN): Continuous rain over the past two days has disrupted road connectivity in parts of Ganjam district, with nearly four feet of floodwater flowing over a bridge on the main road linking Badarampalli and Bilaspur in Khallikote block.

The inundation has severely affected movement along the route and left residents of six villages dependent on the road facing difficulties in commuting.
Bridge Submerged After Continuous Rain
The situation deteriorated following persistent rainfall accompanied by strong winds, which caused the Kharkhari River to swell and inundate several low-lying areas of Khallikote.
The bridge connecting Badarampalli and Bilaspur was submerged under around four feet of water, making normal vehicular movement along the route difficult and unsafe.
Bus Services Hit
The flooding has also disrupted public transport on the route, with Chief Minister’s bus services remaining suspended due to the inundated stretch.
Despite the dangerous conditions, some youths were reportedly seen attempting to cross the flooded bridge on motorcycles, raising safety concerns.
Villagers Demand Permanent Fix
Local residents said the road and bridge face similar disruptions whenever the Kharkhari River rises following heavy rainfall. The recurring problem has affected connectivity to several nearby villages.
Villagers have urged the administration to take a permanent measure, including raising the height of the bridge and repairing the affected road, to prevent repeated disruption during the monsoon.
