Berhampur, Aug 7 [UDN}:Ahead of the Hon’ble President’s visit to Berhampur, the Governor of Odisha presented a set of exquisite handloom and handicraft artworks from the state as a special gift to the President.
The gift package included a prestigious Sambalpuri Bandha saree, which has received the National Handloom Award and holds the Geographical Indication (GI) tag recognition, a traditional Chandua velvet stole from Pipili, and a finely crafted Lord Ganesha idol made with Cuttack’s renowned intricate silver filigree (Tarakasi) art.
These unique artworks represent the exceptional craftsmanship, rich cultural traditions, and artistic excellence of Odisha’s skilled artisans. The gifted items showcase the state’s glorious heritage, reflecting its centuries-old handloom and handicraft traditions and the dedication of its craftsmen in preserving and promoting Odisha’s cultural identity.
The presentation highlights Odisha’s contribution to India’s diverse artistic legacy and serves as a symbol of the state’s pride in its traditional art forms and indigenous craftsmanship.
