Grand Closing Ceremony Marks the End of Odia Paksha Festivities in Kandhamal

Phulbani, April 18: The Odia Paksha 2026 celebrations, which began on April 1 under the joint initiative of the district administration and the District Culture Council, concluded on the auspicious occasion of Pana Sankranti.
The concluding ceremony was held at the District Culture Office premises. District Collector Bedabhushan attended as the chief guest and emphasized the importance of preserving Odia identity and culture.
Among the guests of honour were SP Harish B. C., Additional District Collector Kushal Chandra Nayak, Zilla Parishad CEO Shambhunath Nandi, DUDA Project Director Praveen Kumar Banua, and SDPO Shubhranjit Biswal. They extended New Year greetings to the people and urged everyone to maintain social harmony.
To celebrate Odia heritage, traditional competitions such as Jhoti and Muruja were organized, and winners were awarded certificates and prizes.
Security personnel who played a significant role in anti-Maoist operations in the district were also felicitated during the event.
At the end of the program, individuals who made notable contributions in various fields were also honored. On the occasion of the Odia New Year and Maha Vishuba Sankranti, traditional pana was distributed to guests and the public.
The program was coordinated by Mahadhar Patra, Project Administrator of the ITDA and District Culture Officer, who also delivered the vote of thanks.
