Chandbali , April 18: A major shipbuilding factory project worth Rs1400 crore is set to be established in Chandia Panchayat under Chandbali block near Dhamra.
In the first phase, an investment of around Rs500 crore will be made, and the entire project is expected to be completed within three years. Once operational, the factory is expected to provide employment to around 1,500 local people.
A technical team led by Commerce Department Director Padmalochan Raul recently visited Rajendrapalli and Rajarajeshwarpalli areas to assess the feasibility of the project. Initially, about 100 acres of land will be required, with an additional 100 acres needed in later phases.
The land acquisition process is expected to begin soon, with support from the state government through IDCO. Local residents and representatives have also assured full cooperation for the project.
According to company officials, including Regional Director Ashok Malik, the factory will manufacture large commercial vessels and ships for the Coast Guard. The project will also include repair and upgrading of old ships.
If all approvals and support are received on time, the construction work is likely to commence soon, marking a significant boost to industrial development and employment opportunities in the region.
