19th April 2025, Sambalpur: In a proud moment for Odisha, the Group Centre Sambalpur has been awarded the title of Best Group Centre by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The recognition was conferred during the 86th CRPF Raising Day parade held in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of the force. The ceremony was graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who paid tribute to the valiant sacrifices of CRPF personnel and lauded the force as the world’s largest paramilitary unit.

The Sambalpur Group Centre was selected from among 43 CRPF group centres across India based on its administrative excellence, community engagement, welfare initiatives, and overall performance. The award was jointly presented by the Home Minister and Deputy Inspector General Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Since its establishment in 2015 at Basantpur Goshala, Sambalpur, the centre has actively contributed to community development through health camps, awareness drives, environmental campaigns, and social outreach programs. It has also played a key role in promoting fitness, mental wellness, and public awareness through various cultural, sports, and cleanliness initiatives under campaigns like Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swachhata Pakhwada.

The centre’s involvement in local welfare, including millet promotion in daily diets and afforestation drives, further showcased its commitment to holistic development. Its outstanding contribution and operational efficiency were instrumental in securing the top honour among all CRPF group centres.
