Gujarat, Oct 12 [UDN}:The Gujarat government has announced a prestigious ‘Gujarat Garima Award’ for courageous pilot Smit Machhar, in recognition of his exceptional bravery and presence of mind during a life-threatening incident.
According to the announcement, Smit will be honoured with the distinguished award for his remarkable courage and heroism after he reportedly continued to perform his duties despite sustaining a knife attack.
Despite being attacked with a knife while in the air, Smit demonstrated extraordinary composure and courage and saved the lives of around 180 passengers aboard the aircraft. His actions in the face of grave danger have been widely praised as an example of professional commitment and bravery.
Following the incident, Smit Machhar received appreciation from leaders and prominent figures across the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, among others, praised his courage and heroic efforts.
The Gujarat government’s decision to confer the Gujarat Garima Award is being seen as a fitting recognition of Smit Machhar’s bravery and his efforts to protect the lives of hundreds of passengers.
