Bhubaneswar, 12th March: As the Holi festival approaches on March 15, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for several districts in Odisha. According to IMD’s forecast, several areas in the state are likely to experience severe heat conditions during this period.
Districts such as Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Balangir, and Boudh are expected to face heatwave conditions in one or two locations. An orange warning has been issued for these areas, urging residents to take necessary precautions against the rising temperatures.
In addition, districts like Sonpur, Bargarh, Sundargarh, and Mayurbhanj may also experience heatwave-like conditions in certain regions. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas, advising caution due to the anticipated heat.
The IMD also noted that hot night conditions may prevail in parts of Sundargarh, Balangir, Bargarh, and Boudh districts. The public has been advised to take precautions, especially between 11 AM and 3 PM, when the sun’s intensity is the highest.
To stay safe during the heatwave, residents are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take other safety measures. These steps are especially important during the Holi festivities, when outdoor celebrations are common.
