Bhubaneswar, June 13: Rainfall activity is expected to continue across various districts of Odisha until June 19, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

On Friday, heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is likely in four key districts—Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Kandhamal. The Met department has also forecast wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 km/h in these areas. In response, a yellow warning has been issued for these districts to alert residents and authorities.

In total, 26 districts across the state are under yellow warning due to the potential for thunderstorms and lightning. The department has advised people to remain cautious, especially in lightning-prone zones, and to take necessary safety measures.

The recent rainfall has also led to a drop in temperatures across the state. Over the next three days, daytime temperatures are expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, bringing some respite from the recent heat.

On Thursday, Bhubaneswar recorded the highest rainfall at 12.2 mm, followed closely by Chandbali with 12.0 mm. Other notable rainfall measurements include 5.6 mm in Balangir and 5.0 mm in Gopalpur, Khurda, and Kendrapara.

The state government and disaster management teams are monitoring the situation closely and have urged citizens to stay updated through official weather bulletins.
