4th November 2024: In a significant meeting of the top committee held to discuss the 125th anniversary celebrations of the esteemed statesman and leader, Dr. Harekrishna Mahatab, plans were laid out for a series of events. The celebrations will take place in Bhubaneswar from November 21 to 23, 2024, and will focus on honoring Dr. Mahatab’s contributions to Odisha and India.
The committee outlined various initiatives aimed at revitalizing the memory of Dr. Mahatab throughout the upcoming year. Notably, a memorial museum will be established in Agarpada, Bhadrak district, where he was born. The government will pay appropriate tributes through the installation of his statue at this site.

Various activities will also be organized to publish books related to his works and achievements, create authentic portraits, and establish an independent gallery at the state museum dedicated to his legacy. The anniversary will also feature the launch of a collection of Dr. Mahatab’s writings and photo exhibitions.
Furthermore, chairs in his name will be established at various universities, and competitions in public speaking and essay writing will be organized at educational institutions to engage students with his ideas and contributions. Special editions of children’s literature will be published to introduce younger generations to his life and work.
