Bairipariguda, June 3: Ajay Kumar Mishra reports: While the entire state was suffering from intense heat for the past two weeks, a sudden Kalbaisakhi (pre-monsoon storm) brought widespread destruction. In many places, houses were damaged, trees were uprooted, disrupting normal life, and even loss of life has been reported. Around 25 people are said to have died due to heatstroke in various regions. Meanwhile, Kalbaisakhi storms have caused devastation in several areas.
On the 26th, in Bairipariguda block, strong winds and heavy rain severely affected the region. In Dandabadi village of the same block, the roof of a poor family’s house was blown away and the asbestos sheets were broken, leaving two orphan siblings helpless. As there were no elderly family members in the house, the children were seen in deep distress after their shelter collapsed.
At that time, Kotpad Assembly constituency Congress candidate Anamu Dian came forward like a savior and extended help. He provided asbestos/tin roofing sheets and financial assistance for rebuilding the house of the two orphan siblings.
The villagers of Dandabadi expressed happiness over this humanitarian act. Residents of the panchayat and surrounding areas appreciated and thanked Anamu Dian for his support. Locals also mentioned that he has been engaging in similar welfare activities earlier as well, earning praise among intellectuals and residents of the Kotpad constituency.
The beneficiaries, orphan siblings Lakshmi Khul and Rajesh Khul of Bankuli Jodi village under Dandabadi panchayat, expressed their happiness and gratitude towards Anamu Dian.
During the assistance program, several Congress leaders and workers were present, including senior Congress leader Satya Mohanty from Bairipariguda and Kotpad senior leader Manohar Bisoi, along with other party members.
The initiative of Anamu Dian in social welfare activities was also appreciated by Kotpad NAC Chairman M. Shankar Rao, Block President Ghanshyam Bisoi, senior Congress leader and Bar Association President Mani Prasad Pattnaik, senior lawyer Jitendra Nath Mahapatra, and other leaders including Muna Khan, Prakash Mohanty, J. Banerjee Rao, Santosh Mishra, Shankar Panda, Puran Nayak, and others.
