Bhubaneswar, June 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast (Be Aware) warning for light to moderate thunderstorm activity in five districts of Odisha over the next three hours.
According to the IMD bulletin issued at 12:45 PM, light thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall, and surface winds reaching up to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places in Kendrapada, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, Khordha (including Bhubaneswar), and Cuttack.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these districts and advised residents to remain cautious during the forecast period.
Authorities have urged people, particularly those engaged in outdoor activities such as farmers, commuters, and travellers, to take necessary precautions against lightning and gusty winds.
Citizens have been advised to avoid sheltering under trees during thunderstorms and to stay updated with official weather alerts.
The situation is being monitored, and further updates will be issued as required.
