Improving Healthcare Delivery Takes Priority as Malkangiri District Collector Conducts Comprehensive Review of Health Services

Malkangiri, June 16: A district-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Malkangiri District Collector and District Magistrate Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke to assess the progress of quality healthcare services, healthcare infrastructure development, and various national health programmes being implemented in the district.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chief District Medical and Public Health Officer (CDM & PHO) Dr. Nihar Ranjan Praharaj briefed the participants on the overall progress of healthcare services in the district.

The District Collector reviewed the progress of the National Quality Assurance Programme (NQAP) and emphasized the need to provide better-quality healthcare services in all health institutions. He stressed maintaining cleanliness, ensuring patient satisfaction, and adhering to prescribed quality standards.

Detailed discussions were held regarding the development plans for the district headquarters hospital, construction of new infrastructure, enhancement of patient facilities, availability of medical equipment, and the status of human resources. The District Collector provided necessary suggestions for improving and expanding healthcare infrastructure across health institutions in the district.

The meeting also reviewed various indicators related to:
Malaria control
Tuberculosis (TB) eradication
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)
Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (National Child Health Programme)
Maternal and Child Health programmes
Special emphasis was placed on:
Regular health check-ups for pregnant women
Safe deliveries
Child immunization
Anaemia control
Identification and monitoring of high-risk mothers and children
The progress of the Tuberculosis Elimination Programme was reviewed, including patient identification, treatment, and nutritional support. In malaria-prone areas, officials were directed to strengthen awareness campaigns, testing, and treatment services.
Under the NCD Programme, the meeting reviewed the progress of screening and treatment services for diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases.
Preparations for the upcoming Diarrhoea Control Month were also discussed, including:
Distribution of ORS and zinc tablets
Awareness campaigns
Extensive outreach activities in rural areas
Similarly, preparations and necessary measures for the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio Programme were reviewed.
The meeting also assessed the progress of Ayushman Bharat Card distribution under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). The District Collector instructed officials to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the cards and can fully avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits.
