31st January 2025: Odisha is taking significant steps to address parking issues, particularly along major roads like Rajpath, with the introduction of a new project aimed at better logistics management. In collaboration with National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHML), the state government has launched the Utkarsh Odisha-Conclave 2025 initiative, which will establish 23 truck terminals across the state. These terminals are designed to reduce the problem of illegal truck parking on key roads, thus improving traffic flow and safety.

The first phase will see the development of terminals in 18 districts, with future plans to expand them to other critical areas, including those near Rajpath. These designated spaces will allow trucks to park safely, helping to prevent congestion and accidents.

In addition, Odisha is focusing on modernizing urban parking systems. The introduction of smart parking technology will provide real-time information about available spots, making parking more efficient and reducing road congestion. This initiative will also incorporate digital payment systems, further enhancing the convenience and management of parking spaces.

Together, these efforts will not only improve traffic management but also contribute to the state’s broader infrastructure development, promoting smoother transportation and road safety.
