5th March 2025: Virat Kohli’s composed 84-run innings led India to a four-wicket win over Australia in the first semifinal of the Champions Trophy, securing their place in the final for the fifth time. Chasing 265, Kohli’s 84 off 98 balls, supported by Shreyas Iyer’s 45, anchored the Indian innings after early wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. India reached the target in 48.1 overs, despite Australia’s competitive total of 264, built around Steve Smith’s 73 and Alex Carey’s 61.

With security concerns preventing India from traveling to Lahore, the final will now be held in Dubai. India will face the winner of the second semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand. This victory also served as a redemption for India after their 2023 World Cup loss to New Zealand.
