On April 6, India dispatched 31 tonnes of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, which included critical supplies for an Indian Army field hospital stationed in the country. The aid was transported aboard a C-17 Globemaster heavy-lift aircraft, which took off from Hindon Air Force Station in Ghaziabad early Sunday morning.
This relief effort, named Operation Brahma, was launched in response to the catastrophic 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28. The earthquake has claimed over 3,000 lives and caused widespread devastation. In addition to providing immediate relief, India’s field hospital continues to operate, supporting the ongoing efforts of the local government and rescue teams.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar took to social media to share the details of the mission, highlighting the swift and coordinated response. India’s prompt aid underscores its commitment to supporting its neighbors during times of crisis.
