Jeypore,Aug 27 [UDN}:: The Annual General Council Meeting of the Koraput district branch of the Utkal Journalists’ Association was held at a local hotel in Jeypore.
Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati attended the meeting as the chief guest and spoke about the importance of journalism and the social responsibilities of journalists. The key attraction of the meeting was a detailed discussion on the topic “Artificial Intelligence versus Traditional Journalism.”
During the discussion, participants noted that while Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly influencing the field of journalism in the digital age, the fundamental pillars of journalism—truthfulness, impartiality, accountability and human sensitivity—must remain intact. The participants emphasized that technology should be used responsibly without compromising journalistic ethics and professional standards.
The meeting also discussed the important role of journalists as the fourth pillar of democracy. Journalists play a crucial role in strengthening the voice of society and bringing the problems and concerns of the general public to the attention of the government and administration.
Vice-President of the Professional Journalists Federation, New Delhi, Hemant Tiwari, General Secretary Siddharth Kalhans, and Utkal Journalists’ Association State President Bibhuti Bhushan Kar, along with various office-bearers of the Koraput district branch and a number of journalists, were present on the occasion.
Important views were also exchanged on improving the quality and standards of journalism, making proper and responsible use of emerging technologies, and strengthening the sense of professional responsibility among journalists.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to journalists to remain united and move forward collectively to serve the interests of society and further strengthen the voice of the people.
