Jharsuguda: Aug 5 [UDN}:A monthly coordination and review meeting regarding the drinking water supply and sanitation system in the district was held under the chairmanship of Jharsuguda District Collector Shri Kunal Motiram Chavan. During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted on the current status of various mega drinking water projects being implemented in the district, their expected operational dates, and the timelines for completion.
The District Collector instructed officials to complete the projects within the scheduled time frame and ensure the supply of safe and clean drinking water to the public. The meeting reviewed various initiatives being carried out under the Basudha scheme and other state government programmes, including the Mega PWS (Piped Water Supply) project covering 42 Gram Panchayats and block-wise mega drinking water supply projects.
Special emphasis was laid on the immediate repair of tube wells and restoration of damaged drinking water pipelines. Necessary steps were directed for the prompt repair and restoration of old pipelines that are getting damaged during the construction of new roads by the Rural Development Department.
It was discussed that whenever pipelines are damaged, the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS) Department and industrial organisations should immediately undertake repair work to avoid disruption of public services. In particular, the Public Works Department and Vedanta authorities were instructed to conduct joint inspections and resolve issues to ensure uninterrupted services to citizens.
The District Collector also advised maintaining proper inter-departmental coordination, ensuring quality of work, and providing real-time updates on daily progress through WhatsApp groups for effective monitoring and implementation.
Senior officials from the RWSS Department, Rural Development Department, Works Department, District Information and Public Relations Office, Tata Power, and Vedanta were present at the review meeting.
