Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo Reviews OPGC and OCPL During Jharsuguda District Visit

Jharsuguda, Jan, 02:  Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, visited Jharsuguda district and participated in several public welfare programs, besides inaugurating multiple development projects.

At the beginning of his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister conducted a detailed review of the functioning of the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) and Odisha Coal and Power Limited (OCPL) at Jharsuguda. During the meeting, important discussions were held on achieving the state’s targeted power generation capacity and the operations of coal mines. He advised strict adherence to safety standards and emphasized the importance of environmental protection. He also discussed employee welfare with senior departmental officials.

Later, at Kolabira, the Deputy Chief Minister paid floral tributes at the statue of martyr Karunakar Singh, a brave son of Jharsuguda, and expressed his respect. He also participated in a large procession organized on the occasion.

On the same occasion, he attended a farmers’ convention at Kolabira, where he addressed millet (mandia) and chili farmers. He discussed ways to improve millet and chili cultivation and advised farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques. He assured farmers that the state government is committed to providing proper market linkages and government incentives so that farmers can become economically self-reliant through millet and chili farming. Highlighting the global demand for millets, he also emphasized the state government’s Millet Mission aimed at increasing farmers’ income.

Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister inaugurated a 33/11 KV electricity sub-station of TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL). Through this project, thousands of families, small industries, and farmers in the region will receive uninterrupted and quality power supply. Praising the efforts of the power department, he stated that the state government is committed to taking Odisha forward in the energy sector.

On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister also attended as the chief guest the Golden Jubilee celebrations (50 years) of Puruna Basti Government High School. He addressed former students and teachers and highlighted the government’s commitment to improving the quality of education and the construction of smart classrooms.

Among those present at the program were Honourable MP from Bargarh, Shri Pradeep Purohit, Jharsuguda MLA Shri Tankadhar Tripathy, and senior district officials. From the district administration, Jharsuguda Collector Shri Kunai Motiram Chhanan along with all senior officers of the district were present.
