July 4 (UDN): A passenger bus travelling from Jharsuguda to Bhadrak met with an accident in Kendujhar district of Odisha after it reportedly lost control and crashed into a roadside tree near Ghasiapura market.
The bus, carrying around 50 passengers, struck a tree close to a petrol pump, causing panic among commuters. One passenger sustained critical injuries and has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack for advanced treatment. Six others were also injured and taken to nearby medical facilities.
Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the accident and assisted in rescuing the injured passengers from the bus. Police teams also reached the location and coordinated rescue and medical evacuation efforts.
Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision. However, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances that led to the crash. Further details are awaited.
