Lakhpati Didi: A Vision for Inclusive and Sustainable Women Empowerment in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, May 30: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, addressing the Rashtriya Lakhpati Didi Sammilani 2025, emphasized that the Lakhpati Didi Yojana is not just a welfare initiative but a strategic mission for inclusive and sustainable development. The scheme focuses on empowering rural women through financial independence and nurturing leadership at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister proudly stated that Odisha has become a frontrunner in the country by shaping the futures of over 17 lakh women under the Lakhpati Didi Mission. This achievement is a result of the relentless commitment and coordinated efforts of women from self-help groups (SHGs), Mission Shakti, and the Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM).

He highlighted that this transformation is not limited to improving livelihoods but aims to build dignity, self-reliance, and leadership among women across rural Odisha. The success of the mission stands as a testament to the hard work and resilience of women working at the grassroots, supported by a responsive and visionary administrative framework.

Chief Minister Majhi also reiterated the state’s ongoing efforts to support women in becoming entrepreneurs and community leaders, transforming the Lakhpati Didi program into a movement for empowerment and pride.

He called upon all stakeholders to strengthen the mission further and ensure that every woman in Odisha not only becomes economically strong but also socially empowered and self-reliant.
