Kalahandi: June 18: Normal life has been disrupted in the Jayapatna area due to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms. In the Jariguma village, a large tamarind tree fell near a transformer, breaking an electric pole. As a result, power supply in Jariguma and Tingpokan areas has been disrupted, creating a situation of darkness.
Following the incident, the Jayapatna Fire Department has reached the spot and is engaged in cutting the fallen tree and carrying out rescue and clearance operations. Meanwhile, due to the impact of the storm, trees have fallen in several places across the Jayapatna area, further disrupting the electricity supply system.
Electricity department staff have also reached the affected sites and are carrying out repair work. However, it remains uncertain when the power supply will be fully restored.
