Low-Pressure Area May Develop into a Depression Soon; Several Parts of Odisha Likely to Witness Heavy Rain and Gusty Weather

Bhubaneswar, Aug 14 [UDN}:A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify further and develop into a depression, increasing the possibility of widespread rainfall across Odisha. The weather system is expected to become more organized as it moves, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall to several parts of the state today.
The capital city Bhubaneswar is also likely to experience spells of heavy rain, along with cloudy skies, gusty winds and occasional thunderstorms. Several other districts may also receive significant rainfall under the influence of the developing weather system.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised residents to remain alert, particularly in areas vulnerable to waterlogging, flash flooding and disruption of normal traffic. People are also advised to exercise caution while travelling during periods of intense rainfall and to follow official weather warnings and local administration advisories.
The strengthening of the low-pressure system could further enhance monsoon activity over Odisha, resulting in intermittent to heavy rainfall in many districts over the coming hours. Coastal and adjoining areas may experience stronger winds and rough weather conditions as the system develops.
