Chilika, July 30 UDN}: With the vision of the People’s Government to strengthen communication infrastructure and ensure safe and reliable road connectivity in flood-prone areas, I today laid the foundation stone for the construction of a flood-resilient road from National Highway-5 near Ankula Gram Panchayat to Parikansari via Paikakushadiha, under Chilika Block in my constituency. The project is being undertaken by the Rural Development Department at an estimated cost of ₹176.06 lakh.
Once completed, this important road project will make transportation and daily commuting for the local people more convenient, safer, and uninterrupted. The flood-resilient road is expected to provide dependable connectivity to residents even during periods of flooding, when regular road networks are often disrupted.
The project will not only improve the movement of people and vehicles but will also help strengthen access to essential services and emergency facilities during natural calamities. Improved road connectivity will make it easier for residents to access healthcare, education, markets, government services, and other essential facilities, while also supporting the overall socio-economic development of the area.
The construction of this road is particularly significant for the people living in flood-affected and vulnerable areas. By developing infrastructure that can withstand challenging weather and flood conditions, the project aims to ensure that residents are not cut off from the rest of the region during emergencies. It will contribute towards strengthening public safety, improving mobility, and ensuring continuity of essential services.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was attended by District BJP General Secretary Shri Dushmant Harichandan, Chilika Block Chairperson Smt. Jyotsna Behera, Banpur Block Chairperson Shri Amarendra Ranasingh, Chilika Block Vice-Chairperson Shri Arun Patnaik, former Chilika Block Vice-Chairperson Shri Utpal Paikaray, Ankula Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Smt. Rashmita Das, and Ankula Gram Panchayat Samiti Member Smt. Jyotsnarani Shatrushalya, along with several prominent local party workers, representatives, and members of the local community.
The initiative is being viewed as an important step towards improving rural infrastructure and strengthening safe road connectivity in the Chilika area. The completion of the project is expected to bring considerable relief to local residents by providing them with a more durable and dependable transportation route, particularly during the monsoon and flood season.
The project reflects the government’s focus on developing resilient infrastructure and ensuring that rural communities have access to safe, all-weather roads. With improved connectivity, the people of the surrounding villages are expected to benefit from better mobility and enhanced access to essential services, while the region as a whole will move towards stronger and more sustainable development.
