Bhubaneswar: Sept 9 [UDN}:Vehicle owners will no longer be able to avoid action if they drive without a valid PUCC (Pollution Under Control Certificate) or valid vehicle insurance. Under an enhanced e-detection system, authorities can digitally check vehicles and issue e-challans against owners found violating the rules.
The Transport Department has reportedly directed officials to make the e-detection system more active and effective for monitoring vehicles. Using technology, the required documents and details of vehicles can be verified while they are operating on the roads.
What will be checked?
PUCC (Pollution Under Control Certificate)
Valid vehicle insurance
Other required vehicle-related information and documents
If the digital verification system finds that a vehicle does not have a valid PUCC or insurance policy, an e-challan may be issued against the vehicle owner.
This means that, apart from regular physical checks conducted on the roads, traffic and transport authorities may also detect violations through digital and technology-based monitoring systems.
Therefore, vehicle owners are advised to check and ensure that their vehicle’s PUCC and insurance remain valid and up to date. Otherwise, if the violation is detected through the e-detection system, the owner may receive an e-challan.
