Nabarangpu, Aug 1 [UDN}: The athletes from Nabarangpur district delivered an impressive performance at the 2nd State Sub-Junior (Under-12 & Under-14) Weightlifting Championship 2026, held at the Biju Patnaik Weightlifting Centre in Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. Training under coach Nakul Santi at the Umerkote Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium, the young weightlifters brought pride to the district by winning a total of 4 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals.
Suraj Santi, Manjita Kalar, Geeta Sandha, and Deepak Sanna won gold medals, while Prashanu Santi, Manoranjan Santa, and Jayanti Ratha secured silver medals. Megha Pattnaik, Harapriya Nayak, Laxmipriya Nayak, and Laxmi Sandha claimed bronze medals. The medal-winning athletes and their coach have been widely congratulated by people from different sections of the district for their outstanding achievement.
