Koraput,21st Aug 2025: The Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has produced a special video showcasing the country’s prominent traditional natural handloom crafts. Among the top three, Kotpad Handloom has found a place of pride alongside India’s most renowned weaves.
Noted filmmaker Umesh Agrawal and his team captured the story of Kotpad weaving from the grassroots. The video presents the entire process — from handloom preparation to fabric weaving and garment making.
In the film, Kanchipuram Sarees are featured first, followed by Kotpad’s Mirgan Handloom in the second place. Being ranked on par with Kanchipuram at the national level has brought immense pride to Koraput district.
At present, the video has been receiving wide appreciation from viewers, and the people of the district have expressed their happiness over this recognition.
